Days of mending :)

I'm slowly getting around to you all.  What a crazy week it's been.

I can't believe I put my daughter through the surgery on Monday.  When I went to pick her up in recovery she was shaking, crying and scared.  Also in a lot of pain.  I just hope as a result of all this that she can eat better, and sleep better.  As a mother, I felt the guilt with a capital G.  I just wanted to make her life easier, I didn't realize how hard it would be on her.

We are now at day four and doing much better but she is still suffering.  I can only hope her healing starts to increase because she hasn't eaten in this time period.  She was skinny before...now she's a shadow of her former skinniness.

Who knew tonsils could cause this much suffering?

In the midst of it all, I'm packing to move...we get our new house tomorrow.  :)

Life with it's ups and downs...I wonder what will be next.

The sleepover!

 

Tomorrow Bronwyn has her tonsils out.  I'm worried, as any parent would be.  I'm going over every scenario in my head.  I feel like all will be well...but still, I worry. 

 

We packed an overnighter, with crayons, books and stuffed toys.  It nearly broke my heart.  She's excited about her "sleepover".  Am I a totally bad parent for making this seem like a fun outing?  Will she need therapy in the future because of me? 

Don't answer that.

 

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  We will report back in a few days.

Today I pop in to wish all the fathers out there a Happy Father's Day.  In particular, my own father, who is a lover of potato chips, video gaming and boats.

Little appreciations, an inspired post.

Christina at Soul Aperture wrote a post on "Simple Things in life".  I am following suit, as I believe in gratitude so deeply.  Little things do make our lives what they are.  We need to just pay attention.  So for my rendition, I'll walk you through Greenwich Village, the first of two posts I'll do on this trip.  Come along, and if you haven't already counted your own blessings, you may want to do your own post! According to Christina's rules, it's a list, some photos, or a post on the "simple things".  The first photo I've shown you here is a gorgeous apartment on Bleecker Street, a lovely place to hang your hat and read a book when you are done venturing out for wine and pizza.  So home is the first on my list.

 

A place to eat.  Be it a restaurant, your backyard BBQ or a dinner party hosted by a friend.  Where there is food, you've satisfied one of Maslow's hierarchies, and henceforth should be grateful no matter what.  Each day I hit the "click to give" button on the Hunger Site.  I can't imagine being in a place where my children couldn't eat. This sign represents food and also creativity, two things to feed our soul.  August is located in Greenwich.

 

Freedoms.  Liberties.  Let's not take them for granted.  Oh, and by the way...for my American readers....here we just call it "bacon".  LOL!

 

Adding a little "you" to your front stoop.  I am so excited about moving to my new home, because it already has a yellow front door!  It will save me from painting it yellow.  Oh it is a gorgeous, welcoming colour.  (I've had red doors for years! Still love red though.)

 

For any writer, photographer, or artist...a space in which to work can be completely sacred.  This is the desk space in the little apartment we rented.  Two talented people reside there.

 

You don't need anything but a pen and a notecard to make someone's day.  Christina mentioned loving opening her "snail mail".  There is nothing nicer than opening the mail and getting a brown paper parcel or a handwritten letter.  I can't go into a stationery store without leaving with lots of new crispy paper.  I'm a bit of a vintage postcard addict too.

Last on my list today...warm apple tarts and cool lemonade.  Why not???

I'm baaaaaaack! Did you miss me? Please tell me you did!

Because what good is us being friends if we don't require each other's company?  Hmm?  I've been secretly popping in to read your blogs over the last few weeks.  No one knows I'm there...I'm somewhat of an anonymous apparition.  I haven't commented, due to a lack of time, and sometimes it's good to read without the obligation of leaving my mark.  After all, lots of you read me and leave no trace!  Which is also the very reason I thought I'd give you a break and make the last post a no comment zone.  It's good to be free, isn't it people?

During my walks through Manhattan with two of my most favourite, loving, sweet people on the planet, I wore a new Bob Marley t-shirt that reads, "Could you be loved?"

YES! I can.  Can you?? I'm going to share with you over the next few days some pics from our little adventure on Bleecker Street and beyond.  I hope you stop in and have a look.
